Today I want to talk about skincare ingredients I avoid.
I’ve always had to be careful with certain ingredients in skincare.
I don’t consider my skin sensitive. But there’s certain ingredients that do mess up my skin, and can irritate it.
Back when I had acne, I had to avoid very specific ingredients because they made my breakouts worse.
As I’m getting older, I’ve also found there’s certain skincare ingredients that can dry out my skin, and accentuate texture, lines, and pores.
I want my skincare to work for me, not against me.
Over the years, I’ve compile a personal list of skincare ingredients to avoid.
I avoid these skincare ingredients not because I’ve been told they are “toxic” (I don’t like fearmongering). I avoid these ingredients because I can see and feel obvious signs of irritation, congested pores, dryness, redness, and/or discomfort when using products that contain them.
In today’s video (at the top of the post), I go over the skincare ingredients I avoid. And, what ingredients I don’t have much of an issue with that some people do. I also talk ingredients in my “grey zone.” These “grey zone” ingredients sometimes work great for me, sometimes they don’t (and therefore, I don’t necessarily love them, but I don’t hate them either).
